The atmosphere here is incredible and the heat is unbearable! 17 nations, 12 adaptive sports, over 550 competitors, and even more family and friends. This is my second Invictus Games and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in. Heats today. Started with the 100m, the most tricky for me as a double above knee amputee. The distance doesn’t give me much time to accelerate to full speed. I won my heat in 14.05 seconds, .06 of a second behind the best time across the heats. Felt comfortable crossing the line and hope I have enough to push for Gold tomorrow! Aced my heat in the 200m and was relieved to find that the 400m goes straight to a final in the tomorrow – thankful for anything to keep something in the bag for tomorrow! The crowd raised the roof for us all today and it was especially nice to see my wife and children hopping about like loons as I came over the line. Heading back now to get out of the heat and rest ahead of the finals in the morning, early start.
